Liver Transplant

Your oncologist may suggest to you that liver transplantation is a consideration depending on your child's specific case. First you should locate your nearest (or preferred) transplant center, if you are not currently being treated at one.  It may require travel and a short stay in that location. Once transplant becomes a possibility, you will receive an in-depth consultation from the liver transplant team explaining things such as organ donation (partial or full liver), the waiting list, the surgery, a living donor, financial questions and support services. You will also learn about immunosuppression, writing your donor and follow-up medical care required by your transplant team.
